PROFESSIONAL STUFF
How did you arrive at Ensign? What path brought you here?
Decided to have a career change, at the time my friend worked at Ensign and told me there was a job vacancy. I sent my CV in and received an invitation to have an interview, and the rest is history as they say.
What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?
Well I started within Ensign as an installer travelling the country installing structure cabling, fibre and access points, then I moved into a network support role for around 5 years and recently have moved into a support sales role with Ensign.
What are you most passionate about professionally? What excites you about your work?
What excites me within my current role in Ensign is implementing the complete solution, from site survey through to commissioning.
Designing a network that meets the client’s needs.
PERSONAL STUFF
What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy?
My passion is rallying.
Many moons ago when I was 18 I bought a rally car and started rallying, after 5 years of competing with many great results and one high speed crash, personal commitments forces the sale of the beloved Vauxhall Nova.
Some years later with the fire still lit to compete again, I went on the hunt for another Vauxhall Nova shell, one was found in Tiptree in Essex – a three-door road car. After a long day driving in the snow to collect the car, the dream became reality. 18 months later, after spending many hours in the garage working on the car, a new engine, gearbox, disc rear axle, roll cage, bucket seats, harnesses and the list goes on.
I had an image of how the car should look, if I am honest the cars looks better in reality than in my dreams. The car has been given a new lease of life and is ready to compete in.
Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
I enjoy working on my rally car when I have a spare few hours. Usually stuff like a spanner check or maybe a slight modification to the car.
I also enjoy keeping fit so I spent a considerable amount of time training in the gym and/or relaxing in the steam room. I love to grab my golf clubs for a round of golf at local golf courses, there’s some great scenery in Dorset.
Also, I have two gorgeous Nephews so when I can will pick them up and head out for the day!
What would be impossible for you to give up?
Family is important to me. So whenever possible it is nice to meet up over a nice cup of coffee and have a natter.
Anything else you’d like to tell people about yourself?
Apart from my obvious love of speed, I enjoy going out on my motor bike, I enjoy the freedom and it’s me against the open road. I also enjoy going out on my mountain bike on the local heath or trails.
I do love to cook and experiment with different flavours. It’s nice to invite friends and family around to sample my creations.
